During the start-up of the air compression system, it is recommended to operate in the following sequence:
prioritize start of air compressor
first, start the air compressor to enter the normal operation state. At this time, the compressed air begins to generate and is initially cooled by the after-cooler, but the air still contains a lot of water vapor.
Delayed start dryer
after the air compressor runs stably (usually 1-2 minutes), start the dryer again. This operation can ensure that the dryer handles the compressed air that has been preliminarily cooled by the compressor, avoiding the idling of the dryer in the state of no air flow, and preventing the overload of the equipment or the failure of the adsorbent.
reason analysis:
- at the beginning of the start of the air compressor, the system needs to establish pressure and stabilize the exhaust parameters. At this time, if the dryer is started at the same time, the inlet temperature of the dryer may be too high (the compressor exhaust temperature usually reaches 80-120 ℃), which exceeds the design condition of the drying equipment and affects the water removal efficiency.
- The dryer needs to work in the state of compressed air flow, and its internal adsorbent (such as molecular sieve) or refrigeration system needs to exchange heat through air flow. If the dryer is started first without compressed air flowing through it, it may cause the adsorbent to plate or the condenser to freeze.
- Some dryers (such as micro-thermal regenerative adsorption dryers) need to rely on compressed air pressure to complete the regeneration process, and early start may cause the regeneration process to fail to perform normally.
Supplementary Notes:
- when the ambient temperature is low in winter, the start interval between the air compressor and the dryer can be appropriately shortened to avoid the excessive cooling of the compressed air in the pipeline and the surge of condensed water.
- The equipment with intelligent control system can realize linkage start through pressure sensor. When the exhaust pressure of air compressor reaches the set value, the dryer will be automatically triggered to run.
