During the operation of the air compressor, the temperature of the air is increased due to the compression of the air, and the water vapor content in the air increases. When compressed air is cooled, water vapor condenses into liquid water, which is the main source of moisture in compressed air. If the moisture is not treated in time, it may cause corrosion to the equipment, affect the quality of compressed air, and even lead to system failure. Here are some ways to deal with moisture in compressed air:
- installation of drainage device:
- manual drain valve: Install a manual drain valve at the bottom of the air storage tank or pipeline of the air compressor to drain the accumulated water regularly. Operators need to check and drain condensate daily, especially in humid environment or high load operation, need to increase the frequency of discharge.
- Automatic drainer: Use float type or electronic automatic drainer to automatically discharge water according to the condensate level or set time, reducing manual intervention and improving drainage efficiency.
- Use of drying equipment:
- freeze dryer: By cooling the compressed air and lowering its temperature below the dew point, the water vapor is condensed into liquid water and discharged, thereby reducing the moisture content in the compressed air.
- adsorption dryer adsorbents (such as activated alumina, molecular sieve, etc.) are used to adsorb moisture in compressed air to achieve the purpose of deep drying. This dryer is suitable for occasions where the quality of compressed air is extremely high.
- Optimized piping design:
- make sure that the compressed air duct is sloped downwards to allow the condensate to drain off smoothly.
- Drain outlets are provided at key nodes (such as gas storage tanks, dryers, filters) to facilitate regular drainage of accumulated water.
- Strengthen filtration treatment:
- A precision filter is installed at the output end of the air compressor to further remove moisture, oil and particulate matter in the compressed air to ensure the quality of the compressed air.
- Periodic maintenance and inspection:
- regularly check the working status of the drainage device to ensure that it is unobstructed.
- Clean or replace the adsorbent of the dryer to maintain its drying performance.
- Check the filter element of the filter and replace the blocked or damaged filter element in time.
- Consider environmental factors:
- air compressors operating in a humid environment need to strengthen drainage and drying.
- In the cold area or winter operation, the need for insulation treatment of the drainage pipe, to prevent the condensation of ice blocking the pipeline.
- Monitoring and alarm system:
- install a level sensor or flow meter to monitor the moisture content and drainage of the compressed air in real time.
- Set up an abnormal drainage alarm function to remind the operator to deal with abnormal drainage or drainage system failure in time.
By taking the above measures, the moisture in the compressed gas of the air compressor can be effectively treated, the stable operation of the equipment can be ensured, the quality of compressed air can be improved, and the production demand can be met.
