The start and stop sequence of air compressor, cold dryer and suction dryer is very important to ensure the quality of compressed air and the stable operation of the system. The following is the recommended start-stop sequence:

start the cold dryer:
- the main function of the cold dryer (freeze dryer) is to reduce the moisture content in the compressed air. Before starting the air compressor, the cold dryer should be started and allowed to run for a period of time to make the refrigeration system reach a stable state. This helps the moisture to be removed more effectively when the compressed air enters the cold dryer.
Start the air compressor:
- after the cold dryer is running stably, start the air compressor. The compressed air produced by the air compressor will pass through the cold dryer for preliminary moisture removal.
Start the suction dryer (if applicable):
- if the system is equipped with a suction dryer (adsorption dryer), it is usually started after the air compressor starts and runs stably for a period of time (such as the pressure reaches the set value). The suction dryer is used to further reduce the moisture content in the compressed air and achieve a lower dew point requirement.
Stop Sequence
stop air compressor:
- first, stop the operation of the air compressor. This will stop the production of compressed air and prevent untreated air from entering the dryer.
Stop the suction dryer (if applicable):
- after the air compressor stops running, stop the operation of the suction dryer. This helps to protect the sorbent in the dryer from premature saturation due to continued exposure to air.
Stop the cold dryer:
- finally, stop the operation of the cold dryer. Before stopping the cold dryer, ensure that the compressed air in the system has been emptied or reduced to a lower pressure level to avoid excessive pressure when the cold dryer is stopped.
Precautions
- avoid frequent start and stop cold dryer and suction dryer (especially suction dryer) should avoid frequent start and stop, so as not to damage the equipment or affect its performance.
- Manual blowdown when the equipment is shut down, the manual drain valve should be opened to drain the condensed water clean to avoid freezing or breeding of bacteria.
- Periodic inspection: Regularly check the operating status and performance parameters of the air compressor, cold dryer and suction dryer to ensure their normal operation and find potential problems in time.
